AWAKENINGS (Mochniej & Monteros)
DESIRE & THE FIRST LAW OF MOTION (Monk)
PRO GENESIS (Monk)
2@PLA.Y (Monk)
Alanna Jones was awarded a Canada Council grant to
commission the creation of two solos, one by Davida
Monk. Davida Monk Dance engaged Bill Horist to
compose the score for Desire & the First Law of
Motion. Also involved is Canadian actress, Shannon
Anderson, who will be reading a text from Sir Arthur
Eddington. Although Bill won’t be performing, he’ll
be in attendance for the premiere. This is his first
collaboration with Davida and Alanna since their 2002
residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Bill is
proud to provide the score for this solo piece,
recorded earlier this Summer in Seattle. He is also
thrilled to have his work selected along with Henryk
Gorecki, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Allan Gordon Bell
for this evening of interdisciplinary action.
