Hey, YOUNG PEOPLE “self titled” LP it’s almost ready. The test pressing is amazing! It should be out in a few weeks.
THE PINE‘s “days slipping by” CD will be available in stores from November 29th. You can pre-order both records! (we accept PAYPAL).
We will work on some recordings with XIU XIU , a new 12″Ep with 5 new tracks that will be out at the beginning of summer 2004, following the much awaited full lenght album on TOM LAB. At the beginning of their 2004 european tour there will be something new coming out. More infos coming soon.
The new album from WITH LOVE is almost done! The 7″ split with THE VANISHING was delayed because we had some problems with the artwork! THE DEATH OF ANNA KARINA will be recording in January a new CD/LP and they will be on tour with THE CHINESE STARS during spring 2004.
THE AVENGING DISCO GODFATHER OF SOUL’s “the ultimate in authenticity and musical usefulness’ is just that. After, last year’s LP, an all improvised cd entitled “experiments”, and a southastern us tour with EXAMINATION OF THE … and DAUGHTERS, THE AVENGING DISCO GODFATHER OF SOUL have brought us ten new tracks.
A combination of metal, free jazz, electronics and pure melody make up the bulk of this release. They have matured and come into a sound all their own. a sound which is as unpredictable as it is intense. From the explosiveness of MR. Skinny’s drumming to the wall of fuzz produced by professor poison’s bass lines, all emphasized by bones’s intricate guitar riffs, this release attacks from the opening track to the closing credits. Xylophones, electronic drums, and synthesizers are also a staple of this release. Once again, proving that THE AVENGING DISCO GODFATHER OF SOUL are not traditional in any way. The new power trio, hardcore’s worst enemy. Ex-members of INDEX OF POTENTIAL SUICIDE and THE DISEASE.
DAUGHTERS burst forth, middle fingers raised high, with an unreal debut full-length of ultra-brutal grind-influenced screaming chaos. These songs combine so much so quickly that it’s almost dizzying, but they somehow manage to hold it all together and still take it way up a notch. Immersed in a genre that’s dangerously close to total overkill, DAUGHTERS are actually making technical and chaotic music original again, flawlessly combining thunderous drums with inhumanly fast blasts, squealing high-pitched guitars (that can almost be mistaken for keyboards at times) and absolutely manic screams to create a new form of heavy music that’s simply beyond description. Necessary noise interludes allow the listener to catch their breath before the cacophony continues, with breakdowns so huge that it’s amazing the studio didn’t collapse when the album was recorded. This all may sound like a bunch of grandiose hype, but we’re dead serious… this album is absolutely amazing and could shake the foundation of heavy music as we know it.
Presto per due mesi di tour in US con THE CHINESE STARS!
New incredible european noisy-emoviolence band. They are from France and they play a desperated, screamed noisy-emorock compared to JEROMES DREAM, LA QUIETE, LOUISE CYPHRE. It comes as orange vax vinyl in a hand-sewed felt cover! Really limited edition. Last copies!
DEATH FROM ABOVE is a two piece, bass, drums, and vocals, featuring Jesse F. Keeler (BLACK CAT #13 / FEMME FATALE) and Sebastien Grainger (live drummer of FEMME FATALE). The music is fitting for an ACHE release combing a frantic hardcore energy with an inclination for new wave and electronica. New school, hipster, no wave hardcore. AMAZING!
One bassist and one drummer; loud enough to move things in your pants. The first offering from Toronto’s DEATH FROM ABOVE has been captured on this overloaded LP/CD. Sharing the title trophy alongside such “power duos” as LIGHTNING BOLT and even the media darlings THE WHITE STRIPES, these 6 songs will pummel you with rock n’ roll intensity while making you lick the dance floor at a STOOGES show. Hear two instruments make sounds louder then any four-piece band ever could. Hear tales of lost friends, sluts, and cocaine. Hear pop music get stripped naked, smashed to pieces and reassembled into a distorted, abrasive mess. This is the death of everything you once knew about rock music!
Taking cues from late 70’s/early 80’s synthpunk pioneers as the SCREAMERS, NERVOUS GENDER, and THE UNITS, this Arizona based electronic duo rely on just keyboards, drum machines and vocals to create their lo-fi new wave punk sound. Nine tracks that are sure to appeal to fans of the current rebirth of keyboards in punk.
Andy Dixon’s (D.B.S. / THE RED LIGHT STING) first trek into the world of solo artistry finds himself finger picking guitars into his computer, only to process them into a mangled, yet beautiful collage of sounds. Clicks and beeps spill over themselves as breathy vocals tie knots in a language of clever puns and heartbreaking truths. Just as the name suggests, “I Am Compltley Oprationa l” plays with the idea of mistakes, like a computer programmed to have faults but not to know them. It’s the sound of malfunctioning modernism; the sound of broken processors; the sound of naive sound manipulation. But underneath the electronic tom foolery of this album lies a foundation of solid pop music that could only be written by a songwriter with a lot of experience. This is the skeleton of the entire album, and the glue that holds it all together: The maturity of the writing. The nine tracks on this album will make you think twice about the dividing line between indie rock and modern electronic music.
Jesse F. Keeler, ex-drummer for the now defunct infamous new wave band, BLACK CAT #13, and current bass player for the super-duo, DEATH FROM ABOVE, dives heart-first into his first solo project. This LP is dark and heavy, not the kind of heavy that relies on down tuned guitars and tones so distorted they become the sound of air, but a REAL heavy. Heavy like a car accident, or the black underbelly of an urban landscape. Heavy like a look into the mind of an enemy. The 6 tracks on this LP will have you shaken up. It will play with emotions you didn’t realize existed within you, and just when you don’t think you can take another second, something mid tempo and extremely danceable will smash threw the thrashy drums and noisy guitar work and split the song in half, temporarily freeing you from the schizophrenic vertigo that has taken a hold of your head. This LP feels like Jesse’s “fuck you” to flash in the pan trends within modern music, by being meticulously designed to sound both modern and timeless without playing off the hype of his former projects. It’s a nightmare, carefully packaged and disguised as a wet dream.
Debut LP from Providence, RI’s HALO PERFECTO (featuring ex-members of PALATKA and ATOM BORDMAN). Great rockin melodic hardcore. Great stuff and the LP jaket is one of the nicest i’ve seen in a long time. Hand Screened!!! Awesome!
With quotes like “The next big thing” and “Canada’s pop saviors” being tossed around, and video air play on both MTV and MuchMusic, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who’s up on their modern music who hasn’t heard of HOT HOT HEAT. But if one was to take a trip back in time to the roots of this band, they would find this 7″ at the heart of it all – the bands debut release. One listen, and you’ll understand a lot more then you thought you knew about this 4 piece from Victoria, Canada. Did you know that they used to have a different vocalist, and that current frontman Steve Bays played the keyboard exclusively? Did you know that at one point, HOT HOT HEAT had no guitarist? Did you know that there was a time when HOT HOT HEAT weren’t a polished rock band – in fact, one could use the term “anti-polished” to describe this 7″, which by no means implies that it sounds immature. The “we don’t give a fuck” production of these 4 tracks is the appeal. This 7″ will stab you when you’re not looking with 4 tracks of insanely bass heavy madness. You’ll be powerless against it, as it orders you to dance like a pre-teen might have danced to his or her first rock album. Go ahead and take a bite out of this 7″ before it eats you up. You might learn something.
Like partners in a crime of passion, 2 of B.C., Canada’s biggest underground acts pull together to set things right. HOT HOT HEAT follow up their hugely successful 7″ with 6 tracks that show a darker, more serious side of the Canadian 4 piece. This band has gone on to achieve enormous success, and missing out on this recording is like only seeing Return Of The Jedi without diving into its predecessors. THE RED LIGHT STING mull threw the other side of this LP/CD with a careless abandon that can only be found deep in the recesses of any bands debut release. They chisel their way threw fast, thrashy rock, stopping ever so often to slow it down enough to shake your ass to. This split LP/CD will strike a familiar chord as you listen to it. It will sound simultaneously nostalgic and ultra modern. Like finding a DEVO LP on the sidewalk covered in the piss and shit of the city. ENHANCED CD! The CDversion of this release contains all the music plus live footage – including 2 NEVER HEARD before HOT HOT HEAT tracks!
This anti-contemporary slab of vinyl is an autobiography of Vancouver’s own avant guard rapper, JC. Eleven tracks of mutant hip-hop, filled with clever references to hardcore/punk bands, like a wink and nod to those of us who understand them. JC twists, wiggles, and sometimes forces his way threw the English language as processed samples are sequenced together to create thumping jagged rhythms. Sometimes JC raps about politics, and sometimes it’s about growing up bred on punk and hardcore. Either way, the listener will be baffled; left asking questions about the definition of “Punk”. Is it in a guitar tone? In a tempo? In a drum beat? No one knows for sure, but this LP might make you question what you thought where facts about punk and hip-hop. Don’t bother scratching your head; this LP will scratch it for you.
“Bring Out Your Dead” is an assembling of early, out of print JOSHUA FIT FOR BATTLE material. Recorded during the bands first two studio sessions in 1998 and 1999, these tracks originally appeared on split 7″s with LOVE LOST BUT NOT FORGOTTEN & AALL I ASK, a self titled 7″, and the “How To Be A Hero” CD comp. JFFB exemplified the “screamo” genre, cooperating frantic guitars that go from chaotic to somber, with crazed duel vocals. Comparisons could be made to bands like REVERSAL OF MAN, NEIL PERRY, and HASSAN I SABBAH.
Virginia’s LIGHT THE FUSE AND RUN and New Hampshire’s TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR breathe new life and a taste of fun into a scene that is often heavy-handed and forgetful of its youth. TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR begin the party with their brand of snotty rock-fueled hardcore that at times reminds one of a BLOOD BROTHERS of yore. LIGHT THE FUSE AND RUN mix an early 90s Southern California vibe with a glance at early DISCHORD singles that no one can forget. Welcome to a collection of sounds that will have you at work in the pit, shaking your ass as well as your fists.
On the flip side is the debut from California’s HIT SELF DESTRUCT. Their callous style of rock bears resemblance to RYE COALITION, ANTIOCH ARROW (… GRAVITY style), TRANSISTOR TRANSISTOR, and THE HIDDEN CHORD, but with a more bitter and unglued approach.
NEW TERROR CLASS preserve the kent, ohio heritage with the ten tracks on their full length “did you hear that we fucked?” members of the PARTY OF HELICOPTERS and HARRIET THE SPY combine dark keyboard elements and complex guitarwork alongside plaintive vocals that alternate between spoken and screamed. A considerable amount of acid wit is also thrown into the songs, which have titles such as “give me your e-mail address, i’ll send you some sick shit,” “with an uzi and a 40oz,” and “flying fuck for all.” This LP is the long awaited vinyl version of the CD that was released on TROUBLEMAN UNLIMITED many days ago.
beautiful, melancholy lyrics and melodies characteristic of their previous records is still dominant on this release, but the band takes on new territory as well, or the first time using breakbeats, samples, and keyboards. the twelve tracks, though somewhat ecletic, all have a dark, twistful dreaminess, born from the night time drone of insects, power lines, and lightning storms, and contain the quiet, pastoral beauty of a dusk in july.
LP – 10.00 EUR
The sounds of the dark city are hypnotizing. There are distant noises layering on top of each other. There are tales being told of industry and brick pasts. Suddenly you find yourself in an area of the city you’ve never been before, where machinery is operating by itself. It creates an amazingly intricate and fast paced rhythm that both scares and excites you as high-rises whisper sad and discordant melodies. This 4 piece from Vancouver, Canada will conjure up this exact image. The members of this band use distant guitar tones, keyboards, distorted bass, and relentless drumming like a well oiled machine would use it’s own elements, and delivers to your ears sounds similar to familiar 80’s bands such as WIRE or ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN at first, but you’ll start to hear something else there. Something modern and alien. The Selection Drone will take you on a tour around an unfamiliar city. Sometimes this city is beautiful and makes you want to dance, but just when you’re getting comfortable, a quick turn around a corner will reveal a darker place filled with melancholy.
“Finnish free jazz masterpiece!. LP contains lots of beautiful music, joy and energy. That’s why even the birds are singing along with the band.” (Chris / Fusetron)
Call it free music, call it jazz, even free jazz, improvised music… You can use whatever names you wish to describe the sound of RAUHAN ORKESTERI (= Orchestra Of Peace). But one thing’s sure: few words can describe the FIRE and PASSION these cats put in their music! It’s so boiling and joyful, that it makes you wonder: “What are they thinking??!!” I tell you, this is the sound of awareness!
When they play, you just get nailed to the floor… there’s so many things going on, that your mind will feel no need for “normal” music in a while. Totally insane and at the same time the only sane thing around. You should catch these guys live. If you are in Finland be sure to find out about club TULIPESÄ in Turku, for evenings of improvisation that feature one or many of these guys, but also other surprising people performing… The Tolvi brothers are also notorious for their far-out duo performances as LAUHKEAT LAMPAAT!
This album is recorded partly outdoors, and it is partly in “mono”! How cool is that!? Recommended!
After ‘Modern Institute’, Jim Coleman (Cop Shoot Cop) and ‘Baby Zizanie’ (Foetus + Jim Coleman), this time it’s up to ROTHKO to deliver a fine, exclusive LP! Obscure, isolationist post-rock with enrapturing dark neo-ambient soundscapes and sonic experimentations by this well-known Too Pure/Beggars Banquet artist. A must! Limited to 500 copies.
7″ – 4.00 EUR
THE SLINGSHOT IDOLS remixed / manipulated up by NOXAGT (LOAD Recs), OLE H. MELBY, DUO KANEL, DJ BRA NESEGIR!
“Norwegian noise-rockers going extreme!!! Four fucked-up distorted tracks of Art-Noise-Punk, kinda like ARAB ON RADAR or LIGHTNING BOLT – but with additional electronic-noises for a maximum destructional sound!” (x-mist)
With an ex-WIPERS bassist, and the drummer from LOVE AS LAUGHTER, the TRI-CITY THUNDERCATS play something between the GANG OF FOUR, early WIRE, YUMMY FUR and the URINALS. Living in three different cities (hence the “TRI-CITY”) they continue to collaborate. Just getting off of a Japan tour of last summer, they are working on an LP of all new material to support in the USA and Japan for 2003. This CD collects both their sold out singles as well as some live material recorded in Japan!
7″ split – 4.00 EUR
