LA COMMISSIONE EUROPEA ASSEGNA 8.000 EURO AI VERDENA PER IL LORO PROSSIMO TOUR ALL’ESTERO
Continua la promozione della musica italiana da parte della Fondazione Arezzo Wave Italia.
La Piattaforma Musicale Europea ha assegnato circa 120.000 euro a 24 band scelte tra le candidature presentate dai membri della Piattaforma. Per il nostro paese, la Fondazione Arezzo Wave Italia ha ottenuto l’approvazione del finanziamento di 8.000 Euro ai VERDENA che tramite la fAWI hanno presentato il dossier per la candidatura insieme ad altri gruppi italiani.
I VERDENA suonano insieme dal 1992. Nel 1999 hanno esordito con un album (Verdena) che è arrivato oggi a vendere quasi 50mila copie. Dal vivo registrano ovunque il “sold out”. Dopo il disco d’esordio il gruppo ha pubblicato Solo un grande sasso (2002), Il suicidio dei samurai (2004) e un notevole numero di EP (sei, per la precisione), contenenti 18 inediti.
L’ultimo album (Il suicidio dei samurai), è stato pubblicato, nel 2005, in Germania, Austria, Svizzera. Alla pubblicazione è seguito un tour nei club più prestigiosi degli stati suddetti (14 date, tra giugno e novembre).
Il suicidio dei samurai uscirà nella primavera del 2006 anche in Francia.
La band è attualmente in studio per la registrazione del quarto album, ma da aprile ritornerà “on the road” in Europa. Ecco qui di seguito le date;

I finanziamenti del progetto ETS – European Tour Support sono erogati in base a criteri molto rigorosi: i gruppi che ne fanno richiesta devono indicare un numero minimo di date e paesi europei, la distribuzione nei paesi toccati dalla tournèe e altre condizioni da rispettare. Con questo terzo e ultimo round di finanziamenti, il progetto ETS cessa di esistere come progetto pilota e si lavora adesso per rendere stabile questa forma di aiuto alla mobilitazione dei gruppi europei all’interno delle nazioni europee. Considerando la popolarità e il successo dell’ETS, lo European Music Office (la struttura che ha istituito la Piattaforma Musicale Europea) intende presentare un nuovo progetto ETS all’interno delle politiche comunitarie e in particolare nel prossimo “Programma Cultura 2007-2013”, al fine di sviluppare ulteriormente questo progetto.

EU TOUR SUPPORT PROGRAMME ENDS WITH SUCCESS
EU grants help bands to break borders
For the last time this year, promising European artists will be awarded approx. € 120.000 in grants for their tours in Europe. Thanks to this support, talented young artists are given the possibility to reach out to audiences in other countries and acquire publics all over Europe. In the third and final round of the European Tour Support programme (ETS), 24 bands were selected by the European Music Platform/European Music Office (EMO). The high number of applications received for the three rounds and the reputation of the selected artists show the popularity and value of the ETS programme. This programme receives financial support from the European Union (DG EAC) and the Members of the European Music Platform.
The last round of the European Tour Support Programme rewarded artistic talents with promising careers and recognised potential, such as Mattafix, dEUS, Tiger Lou and EBBA 2006 winner Sarah Bettens. The bands receiving a grant have to comply with the very strict criteria of the ETS programme. ETS is a programme of the European Music Platform and is managed by the European Music Office. For this round, 24 bands from 9 European countries were selected for ETS, for 7 countries visited and 19 shows planned on average per artist:

EMO wants Tour Support success to continue in 2007: The 2005-2006 ETS programme awarded a total of € 300,000 in grants to talented European artists including well established artists Amadou&Mariam, The Raveonettes, dEUS, Hellacopters, and upcoming talents such as Robocop Kraus, with the objective of stimulating the mobility of artists and the circulation of their works in Europe. Considering the popularity and the success of ETS, the European Music Office not only intends to present a new ETS project in the framework of the next EU Culture Programme 2007-2013, but will also make proposals in order to develop this project internationally.
