A volte bastano poche note, un accenno di melodia o un suono per far innamorare di un artista, di una musica. A volte servono indagini, approfondimenti, ricerche, discese nelle profondità dell’ascolto. Con Enomìsossab ambedue queste possibilità sono vere, e coesistono, per l’ascoltatore. In questo disco l’incipit di “L’Elefantessa e la Leonessa Matta” abbaglia per la chiarezza dell’approccio giocoso alla vocalità. Mentre “El Mantra”, a seguire, deposita strati di materia sonora, tattile, vibratile, modulata attraverso i vocalizzi e le giravolte vocali che si innestano su un tappeto di archi. E gli altri brani disegnano la “mappa del canto” di questo giovane artista nostrano, degnissimo erede del grande Demetrio Stratos e di pochi altri “cantanti” di tecniche estese. Enomìsossab (al secolo, e al contrario, Simone Basso) con questo suo secondo disco trova, e ci porge, il grimaldello che dischiude la porta di una ricerca sospesa “classicamente” fra sperimentazione e rock, fra cultura popolare e matrici avanguardistiche.
“Co Coron Fon Fin Fun” è uno “scherzo” vocale; “L’Ombra di Mezzogiorno”, è un caso di “song”, classica e di classe; “Crushed by the wheels of industry” è un omaggio al tempo “punk” andato, sorta di sommessa ballata alla Nick Cave. E le due versioni di “4 e 33”, con John Cage ormai nume tutelare, ma anche “origine di tutti i suoni”’, che serve da pre-testo per una scorribanda blues-elettronico-dadaista modificata e deturpata nel profondo.
E non mancano lo sberleffo, il gusto per la citazione, l’invettiva teatrale (in “Propaganda Due”, ripresa, ridisegnata e ampliata rispetto allo stesso brano incluso nel CD d’esordio) a testimoniare di una personalità artistica totale e di una capacità “fisica” ed “emozionale” assolutamente fuori dal comune.
Il canto diplofonico, i suoni gutturali, le glossolalie, le deformazioni linguistiche, il calembour e la contorsione vocale. Troviamo questo e altro ancora nel repertorio di Enomisossab; il tutto sorretto, va rimarcato, da un’ottima vena compositiva, comunque ben coadiuvata da un manipolo di “menti libere” (Franco Gullotta, Fausto Balbo, Luca Miti, Alessandro Cerratti, Roberto Leardi, gli Architorti) che a turno lo affiancano nel suo percorso consapevolmente solitario.
Sometimes few notes or a little melody are enough to fell in love with an artist. Sometimes you need to search, to go deep in the earth of the sound.
With Enomìsossab both these possibilities are true, and they coexist together for the listener. In this album the very beginning of “L’Elefantessa e la Leonessa Matta” shines with the clarity of the vocalisation. And “El Mantra”, following, sediments layers of vibrant, tactile sound material using vocals over a carpet of strings. And the other tracks drawn the “map of chants” of this young Italian artist, heir of the great Demetrio Stratos and few other “singers” of extended techniques. Enomìsossab (or, vice versa, Simone Basso) find, with this second CD, the key to open the door of a research, “classically” suspended between rock and experimentation, between popular culture and avant-garde roots.
“Co Coron Fon Fin Fun” is a vocal trick; “L’Ombra di Mezzogiorno”, is a “case of song” with class; “Crushed by the wheels of industry” is the homage to the “punk” that’s gone, a kind of dark ballad “a la Nick Cave”. And the two versions of “4 e 33”, with John Cage – the “origin of all sounds” – as a pre-text, are a kind of avant-garde electro-dada-blues, deeply modified.
And there’s also the grimace, the taste for the quotation, the theatrical invective (in “Propaganda Due”, grown version of the same piece on his first album) to testify of a complex artistic personality and of a “physical” and “emotional” attitude, absolutely uncommon.
Overtone chant, guttural sounds, linguistic deformations, the “calembour” and the vocal contortion. We find all of these and more in Enomisossab’s repertoire, founded, has to be said, over a good writing vein, actively sided by a bunch of “free mind musicians” (Franco Gullotta, Fausto Balbo, Luca Miti, Alessandro Cerratti, Roberto Leardi, the Architorti) during his solitary path.
